Scala Persistenza is the second part of my Scala Dei Turchi series. This time it's about memory, and more precisely about the way memory persists.
I wanted to make everything disappear. The people, their little holiday bliss, the love messages they'd written in the clay. With a digital tool, I erased every trace of the ones who were there at the same time as me. But I couldn't erase them from my memory. They stayed, like residues, visual parasites in my perfect mental pictures.
I don't think memory is frozen. It's malleable, it shifts over time, it changes with your mood and what you feel. Since its shape keeps moving, animation and video installation felt like the right way to show it.
